ALBUM REVIEW – 200 STAB WOUNDS ‘MANUAL MANIC PROCEDURES’

Posted on by Oran

200 Stab Wounds have created a contemporary impression of Death Metal in its purest form with their new album, ‘Manual Manic Procedures’.

There are some albums that come along every now and again that are simply unavoidable within the genre that birthed them. In this instance, 200 Stab Wounds have done just that.

Manual Manic Procedures’ is an instant classic in my opinion. Smashing elements of traditional DM with elements of Doom, and scorched Blackened fury, the Ohio four piece waste no time in spreading the gaping wound that is their music right in your face as they excrete some of the most intense riffs committed to tape this year.

Clocking in just under twenty nine minutes, 200 Stab Wounds bring an unmitigated level of aural damage to this album with the likes of album opener, ‘Hands of Eternity’, ‘Gross Abuse’, and hectic title track, ‘Manual Manic Procedures’.

With a touch of Cannibal Corpse here and there, and a peppering of Carcass, Vader, and Misery Index for good measure, what’s not to like? The absolute colossal aural monolith that is, ‘Defiled Gestation’ alone is worth the album price, which indecently, has become somewhat of an obsession that I simply MUST experience live when they make their way back to this part of the world later in the year as guests of Gatecreeper.

Overall, 200 Stab Wounds have not only raised the bar with ‘Manual Manic Procedures’ they have launched it into orbit.

Absolutely outstanding. 5/5
