With Overdrive and Jetrocker, now in it’s third year running Metal 2 The Masses Ireland, we are thrilled to announce that 2016 is guaranteed to be another spectacular year, with a huge variety of genres taking part from Thrash, Doom, Black, Rock, Metal-core and Folk Metal to name but a few. We also have been working in obtaining more coverage with our media partners Planetmosh (UK), News From The Underground (UK) and other media platforms, Get Your Rock Out (UK), The Moshpit Radio Show (Ireland), Cranium Titanium Radio (Ireland) and Shredload (Ireland), Hobgoblin and many more.
Metal 2 The Masses Ireland will be sending one band over to play the New Blood stage at this years Bloodstock Open Air Festival in Catton Hally, Derbyshire. The festival takes place from August 11th through 14th and will play host to some of the most crushing bands in the metal kingdrom including Slayer, Anthrax, Mastodon, Twisted Sister (last ever UK performance), Fear Factory, Behemoth, Venom, Gojira, Paradise Lost, Dragon Force and many more! To find out who will be taking part in this years opening show, Overdrive have put together a breakdown of our first five bands that will be kicking off heat 1 of the campaign on Saturday, January 16th.
Consisting of Bill Stuart (Guitars / Vocals), John Keane (Bass/Vocals) and Mark Stuart, this three piece Waterford based progressive metal band, will be firing on all cylinders when delivering their hypnotic, bone crushing set! With a “bus load of dedicated supporters” on hand to secure the vote they need to progress to one of the semi-finals, Meniscus are a band that you need to your eyes on.
A quote from the band sums up their approach to Metal 2 The Masses Ireland “We are coming to TEAR IT UP!! Lets get Meniscus on the bill for this epic festival.” Don’t say you weren’t warned!

MEGACONE
Megacone are no strangers to Metal 2 The Masses Ireland, as they progressed right through to the semi-finals last year and proved their weight in metal, with mesmerizing performances that left the punters almost suspended in a Universe of complex melody arrangements and unpredictable twists and turns that would have the likes of God Is An Astronaut, scratching their heads in disbelief! The band have recently been added as official support for Ozric Tentacles on February 17th in Dublin’s Hanger venue. Having gained a reputation for working hard and pulling off mind bending performances, Megacone and a force to be reckoned with.

Taking the stoner metal flag 20,000 leagues under the heavy current of contemporary metal, Nautilus are a major crowd pleaser and always have been. As veterans of the Bloodstock Metal 2 The Massses campaign, Connor O’Brien (Drums), Alan Hanlon – (Bass), Cloaky Jones – (Guitar) and Cathal Hughes (Guitar / Vocals), are bringing the big guns to this years Metal 2 The Masses, with a bag of new material from their forthcoming album which they have been busy recording over the last month. Bring heavy boots, as there is gonna be a mud-slide of mountain-heavy riffs, cascading from the house P.A.

THE MAGNAPINNA
Describing themselves as Alternative Metal / Rock, The Magnapinna are a band full of surprises. What ever you’re expecting, then prepare for the opposite. Not afraid to venture into the weird and wonderful (see video below), The Magnapinna, site influences such as Tomahawk, Neurosis, Rammstein and David Bowie, as part of their DNA, incorporating their very own unique style and flavor to the mix. If you’re a fan of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Free Salamander Exhibit or Evil Blizzard, then this is right up your street! Do not miss their performance!

TWO TALES OF WOE
Having made a name for themselvs purely based on no bullshit, hard-working, bone crushing live shows. Two Tales of Woe are a band that everybody is talking about these days. Overdrive as been hearing nothing but good things about these guys and are beyond pleased that they are taking part in this years Irish Metal 2 The Masses. Hailing from Dublin, Two Tales Of Woe are made up by Carl King, Dave Buttner, Dan Walsh, Kelvin Doran and Justin Maloney, and have been together since 2005. The guys have had a busy 2015, with highlights that included official support to Corrosion Of Conformity in Dublin’s Academy and Belfast’s Limelight during the Summer (see video below).
With an self proclaimed sound that is a mix of Doom / Sludge “Sloom”, infested with enough groove to move mountains, Two Tales of Woe are coming for you and there’s nothing that you can do about it! Prepare to be crushed!

There will be another thirty bands taking part in this years Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses Ireland, with five bands taking to the stage each week, resulting in two graduating towards the semi finals. Metal 2 The Masses Ireland 2016, heat 1 takes place in Fibber Magees, 80/81 Parnell Street, Dublin 1 on January 16th at 7.30pm. Admission is €5.00 and each paying punter will receive their official voting slip. The two bands that will be chosen to proceed to the semi finals, is based on the crowd vote and the judges vote.
