DINOSAUR PILE-UP RETURN WITH NEW SINGLE, ‘BOUT TO LOOSE IT’-THEIR FIRST WITH MASCOT RECORDS

Dinosaur Pile-Up are back with a vengeance. After a six-year hiatus, the band has returned with their explosive new single, ‘Bout To Lose It, and a major announcement—they’ve signed with Mascot Records.

Frontman Matt Bigland has been candid about the band’s long absence, revealing the personal battles that kept them out of the spotlight. In December 2024, he shared his journey on Instagram, detailing his experience with a life-threatening illness and the profound perspective shift that followed.

“It’s been so cathartic to lay it out,” Bigland explains. “People need clarity about what happened.” His Instagram posts (Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4) offer a raw account of the struggle, resilience, and hard-earned clarity that fueled the band’s comeback.

The new single, ‘Bout To Lose It, distills five years of pent-up emotion into a blistering 3 minutes and 40 seconds. Brimming with themes of vulnerability, pain, and perseverance, the track finds Bigland wrestling with self-doubt and the uncertainty of returning after such a long absence: “I guess I’m back on the edge / Maybe I never left! / Would have been nice if you cared / But what did I expect?!”

Bigland’s battle with ulcerative colitis left him in critical care in early 2021—a stark reminder of life’s fragility. Facing the reality that not everyone in his hospital ward survived, he was forced to reassess everything. Now, armed with fresh perspective and renewed determination, Dinosaur Pile-Up are ready to roar back to life.

With ‘Bout To Lose It setting the tone, their next chapter promises to be their most powerful yet.
