‘The Neon Mirage‘ and ‘Afterglow‘ took the listener beyond orbit into realms of virtuosic excellence packed with meaty riffing, jaw-dropping solos boasting a rhythm section tighter than a Nun’s ninny!
Always a band that holds many a surprise in their songwriting, ‘Clarity‘ sees a very different pace from the previous two singles. Check it out for yourself below:
Ex-Xerath guitarist/composer/founding member Conor McGouran talked to us about the track:
CONOR – “‘Clarity’ grew out of my own issues with panic attacks and anxiety a couple of years back. During the same period close friends, associates, and family members had passed away.
To help heal from this, a good friend suggested that I write music representing the way I wanted to feel. Once the music was complete, I sent it to William Alex Young who complimented these themes fantastically.
It really helped in my own journey of self-forgiveness, grief and acceptance. It is musically quite a departure from our other songs but we’re influenced by quite a mix of musical styles. I guess this one taps into our more Peter Gabriel, Massive Attack and Depeche Mode influences. It serves as a break from the more intense heavier material and will hopefully give someone a little tranquillity in tough times.”
