Best known as the founding drummer of the legendary Brazilian thrash metal band Sepultura, Cavalera helped revolutionize heavy music with his relentless drumming style and innovative tribal rhythms, particularly on albums such as Chaos A.D. and Roots. Since parting ways with Sepultura, he has continued to push musical boundaries with projects like Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulwax, Petbrick, and his DJ/electronic duo Mixhell, which he founded with his wife, Laima Leyton, in 2006.
A force behind the kit since the 1980s, Cavalera is recognised as one of the most hard-hitting drummers in heavy music history. His work fuses raw metal aggression with electronic experimentation, blending drum machines and modular synthesisers with live percussion. Beyond his drumming legacy, Igor has also carved out a reputation as an electronic music producer, performing at major festivals including Glastonbury, Bestival, and Reading.
His latest releases, including Aural Manifestations (Damian Records, USA) and Alucinações Sônicas (Hospital Productions), showcase his ever-evolving sonic explorations, incorporating industrial, experimental, and atmospheric elements into his signature sound.
