The shows were the first taste of the second ‘volume’ of touring he has planned for his ongoing “Empath” album cycle.
They saw him revisit material from Strapping Young Lad with some of the tracks having last been played onstage by Devin close to fourteen years ago. It also appears that the SYL song “Almost Again” received its live debut during the cruise. Tracks from the now-defunct Devin Townsend Project were also included in the set.
Townsend enlisted the following musicians as his backing band for those performances
Guitars – Wes Hauch (ex-The Faceless/Black Crown Initiate)
Bass – Kyle Konkiel (Bad Wolves)
Drums – Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth/ex-Soilwork)
