In the latest issue of Fistful of Metal Magazine, King reveals many things including the possibility of future Slayer tours and if ‘Repentless‘ was, indeed, the bands final studio album.
In this in-depth feature interview, King also revealed his decision to work with band members, drummer, Paul Bostaph, guitarist Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head / Vio-Lence, Mark Osegueda (Death Angel), and ex-Hellyeah bassist, Kyle Sanders, saying; “What a lot of people don’t take into consideration is that all the guys in this project, apart from Mark, didn’t have a job… and that also included me!”
He also talks about the songs on ‘From Hell I Rise‘, as some were written under the intention of featuring on a future Slayer album…”Back in 2015, I was totally unaware that Slayer was going to finish! I was actually holding those tracks back for what I believed would be the next Slayer album“.
He also comments on being in the spotlight and if he would prefer to let the music do the talking, “Not really. I was pretty much groomed during my time in Slayer to take on all of the interviews because I can handle it, and I don’t say stupid shit that people have to decipher and continue to ask more questions about”, he states.
“I’m used to dealing with press and I know when a journalist tries to put words in my mouth. I’m not gonna say who, but I’m just here to talk about the music, to celebrate the album, and the live shows.
At this point in my life, I know when people are looking for dirt, and I just re-route them every time”, he explains. “Since I’m decent at doing that, I’m just so used to it at this stage, and I know how to deal with it.”
