The hunt is on for the hottest Irish metal band to represent their community at Bloodstock Open Air over the weekend of 7th – 10th August 2014 in Catton Park, Derbyshire, UK.
Metal 2 The Masses Ireland is giving an opportunity for an unsigned breakthrough act, or self release act, to perform on the hallowed New Blood Stage at the festival alongside DOWN, AMON AMARTH, MEGADETH, CHILDREN OF BODOM, OBITUARY, DECAPITATED, HATEBREED, PRONG and over 100 more bands. Bloodstock is the biggest and best independent metal festival in the UK – which is something that bands are clambering over themselves to make a reality. The New Blood Stage exists to provide a platform for the next generation of metal talent to reach a wider audience. From Bloodstock’s very beginning back in 2001 there has been a focus on offering a chance for newcomers to strut their stuff. Last year, Irish band Warpath won the competition and took the New Blood Stage by storm. They said “we had a huge crowd and we all came off stage with big smiles on our faces”.
Over the coming months a series of heats and semi finals will culminate in a Grand Final night featuring the 6 best bands battling as if their lives depended on it. Simon Hall, Metal 2 The Masses co-ordinator, will fly over for the final to judge the winning band.
