By far one of the highlight gigs of the summer, Billy Talent wasted no time in kicking things off with a litter of bangers, opening with ‘Devil In a Midnight Mass‘, ‘This Suffering‘, ‘Big Red Gun‘, and the awesome ‘Ghost Ship of Cannibal Rats‘, to which the steaming-hot venue consumed with the intensity and frenzy of a shark attack!
Knowing only to well how to command an audience, frontman Benjamin Kowalewicz dominated the lip of the Academy stage, as he and his bandmates worked up a sweat that was worth its weight in gold.
We are treated to a glorious pick n’ mix from the band’s rich discography including stand out tracks, ‘Rusted from the Rain‘, ‘Surrender‘ (taken from 2006’s impeccable ‘Billy Talent II), ‘Try Honesty‘ and an encore that consisted of the neck-rupturing ‘Red Flag‘ and ‘Fallen Leaves‘. If you missed this gig, then you missed out. Big time! 5/5
