REVIEW – FOO FIGHTERS GRACE THE SILVER SCREEN WITH ‘STUDIO 666’. BUT, IS IT WORTH WATCHING?

When we first learned of the new Foo Fighters movie project, ‘Studio 666’, a wave of speculation washed through the office. Little did we know, we’d be laughing our asses off as each member of the band gets slaughtered in the most gruesome of ways…

With a script that’s [lets face it] paper thin. Dave Grohl and his fellow band mates tempt fate as they move into a spooky haunted mansion in the Californian Hills of Encino to record their 10th studio album.

What happens next is a mishmash of questionable acting [mostly from Grohl’s bandmates] through a whacky, yet wonderfully gore-infused script that revolves around the Foo’s making their 10th studio album.

Guest appearances from the one and only Kerry King [Slayer] as a grumpy roadie who gets smoked in the early stages of the movie, but not before a short [buy hilarious] scene involving Grohl looking for the “perfect” snare sound, at the hands of King, who looks like he’s ready to shove a drum stick up the frontman’s ass.

An equally funny cameo from Lional Richie, gets a chuckle as he tells Grohl, “Get your own Fuckin’ song. “.

All-in-all, ‘Studio 666‘ is a bit of fun. A tongue-in-cheek, ridiculous comedy-horror with decent moments of gore, and a colour-by-numbers script. Was I entertained? Hell yeah!

If I were to describe the overall vibe of ‘Studio 666‘, I’d say it’s a perfect hybrid of The Monkees [TV series], mixed with Evil Dead and sprinkling of Scooby-Doo. What’s not to like about that?

Studio 666‘ is out now in all good movie theatres. 7/10.
