2013 saw Biffy Clyro step up a gear in terms of both ambition and success. ‘Opposites’, a twenty-track double-album, debuted at #1 with first week sales of over 70,000 as it emerged to the best reviews of the band’s career. After the album achieved Biffy Clyro’s best international chart positions to date, the band headed out on an eleven-date UK and Ireland arena tour that concluded with a sold-out show at London’s 20,000 capacity O2 venue. They were subsequently named as Best British Band at the NME Awards.
After a phenomenal summer which saw the band play their first headline sets at Reading, Leeds and Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Biffy Clyro again triumphed with prestigious awards including Best Album for ‘Opposites’ from both Q and Kerrang!, as well as a Live Music Award for Best Festival Performance for their stunning set at Reading. The trio have concluded 2013 with their biggest tour of mainland Europe to date, and will commence 2014 with a West Coast tour of the United States and Canada, as well as Australia’s touring Soundwave Festival.
